Angel Bryant is currently a senior at Howard University, where she is majoring in International Affairs with a minor in Japanese language. Her academic accolades include acceptance into the College of Arts and Sciences Honors Program and making the Dean’s List every year of college.
She is passionate about public service, language learning, and education. Her passion has led her around the world from India as a Global Citizen Year Fellow to Japan as a Critical Language Scholarship Finalist (first from Howard University for Japanese language), TOMODACHI Kakehashi-Inouye Scholar, Gilman Scholar, and JUSFC Bridging Scholar. As a Kakehashi-Inouye Scholar, Angel had the privilege of presenting about her experiences to First Lady of Japan Mrs. Kishida (in Japanese!) with three other students at Howard University. Influenced by her experiences in India, Angel’s thesis research focuses on a comparative study between marriages in South India and North India.
Angel is deeply involved with the Ralph J. Bunche International Affairs Center and regularly volunteers with the Bunche Brigade, a student organization that raises awareness about study abroad opportunities and international affairs. As a Gilman Scholar, she created “The Year of Japan,” a service project dedicated to helping HU students study abroad.
In her free time, she enjoys creative writing, video games, and traveling. She’s published two poems in the Sterling Notes literary arts journal and founded “The Writer’s Guild,” a student organization dedicated to reviving and furthering the great literary tradition of Howard University.
She hopes to utilize her skills to bring good leadership and long-lasting change in the global community.
